Mahone Bay Canine Walking Tours will give you a view of Mahone Bay that you’ll never forget. If you think you’ve seen it all in this town, join us on this tour and let our guide Jane of Ditto’s Canine Learning Centre introduce you to a completely different Mahone Bay perspective.

Of course, this tour is just as much fun for our canine participants as it is for humans. It’s the ideal walking tour for those who are looking for a doggie-friendly outing in Mahone Bay, those who are wanting  to know more about  Mahone Bay’s Historical Town area, and those who simply want to take a stroll around the town with other dog lovers.


You’ll enjoy a Famous Biscuit for yourself at the wonderful Biscuit Eater Café and your pet will dine on a delectable doggie treat from The Dog Shop!

Your walk will begin at the town’s parking lot by the public washrooms and will continue along the water front of the Bay, where you will discover all kinds of little-known facts and historical information. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the amazing views of the Bay and the boats in the bay and the Historical War Monument, and colorful homes and businesses.


If you are lucky to be visiting during one of our festivals  there will be so many photo opportunities during  these festivals .(Mussel Festival, Treasures of Mahone Bay, Mahone Bay Pirate Festival & Regatta , Scarecrow Festival ,  and Father Christmas Festival )

FAQ’s:

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Tickets must be purchased in advance.
To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. Tickets can be purchased on line with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express and your PayPal account or a cheque pre-sent before tour.


What if I don't have a dog? Can I still take this tour?
This tour is the perfect outing for you and your doggie friend, but you are more than welcome to come alone or with human companions. On some occasions we might even have a dog for you to walk if you don’t have one!

What are the conditions to bring my dog along?
For the safety of our participants, we must ask that all dogs are trained, well-behaved. We thank you in advance for your cooperation on these matters.

Can I bring children on the tour?
Sure! Children do have to have a regular priced ticket in order to attend, however. Children ages 5 and under can come along for free and do not need a ticket to attend.

What should I bring?
Make sure to bring some plastic baggies with you to clean up after your dog!  Some treats for your dog, and good shoes to walk in. Bring a camera, and good spirits, of course!

What happens if it rains?
The tour runs rain or shine regardless of weather conditions. If it is down pouring we can try to re-schedule.
Just make sure you and your doggie are well equipped if it should be raining.

Are there bathrooms along the way?
We will have one scheduled bathroom stops along the tour, but if you need to stop, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you.

What types of foods are served on the tour?
You will be offered a snack at the Biscuit Eater Cafe, and your canine friend will dine on a doggie treat from The Dog Shop.

What if I have dietary restrictions?
Please let us know if anyone in your group has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, diabetic, etc.) when you purchase your tickets. As long as we know well enough in advance, we can often accommodate your needs. If we do not find out about the special needs until the day of the tour, it is usually impossible for us to adjust in time to accommodate.

How much walking is involved? Is it a fast-paced tour?
We are on our feet for approximately 2 hours. We walk at a very casual pace.


Can I bring more than just one dog?
Sure, you are more than welcome to bring all your canine friends. Please let us know in advance upon purchasing your tickets, so that we can bring doggie treats for all of them.

Does this tour have anything to offer a native Nova Scotian’s or Mahone Bayers?
Absolutely! Many of our attendees live right here in, and around Mahone Bay. Locals often attend to learn about the neighborhood and the towns in which they live, meet with other dog lovers, and enjoy a unique afternoon outdoors.

Yes, we only offer tours in English at this time.
